When you create the entire universe and every single thing in it, including time itself… you get to be the leader.

God is in charge. He rules and reigns.

But if God rules and reigns, why is there evil? And suffering? And brokenness?

Tough question, right? While I don’t presume to know it all or have all of the answers, I do know this… God allows evil and suffering to exist, for his own purposes, because it’s in his good and loving nature to allow things. That is, because God is love, God grants freedom to his most precious creation – humanity.

And humanity has abused that gift of freedom from the very beginning. And that includes every last one of us – we’re all guilty. We’re all part of the problem.

So our good, loving Creator, who rules and reigns, initiated a recovery plan and offered his only Son, Jesus, on a cross as an atoning sacrifice for our sins, to bring back to himself this broken humanity.

For now, therefore, anyone who wishes to come back under the good, kind, loving and gracious rule of God may do so, simply by trusting that Jesus’ death on the cross is the only way for us to be reconciled to God again.

King David closed out his great song of worship with a word about the reign of King Jesus…

The Lord has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything. Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. Yes, praise the Lord, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will! Praise the Lord, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the Lord.

~ Psalm 103:19-22 NLT

Nothing brings God more glory than when we find our greatest joy in submitting our lives to him and discovering that he, alone, is our greatest source of joy and peace.
