It’s been said that missions exists because worship doesn’t.
That is to say, because so many people don’t yet have a personal relationship with Jesus, out of which praise and worship naturally flow, we keep going with the good news to as many people as possible.
We keep going because we want everyone to hear about Jesus, yes, but even more than this, we keep going because we know the absolute joy that so many people lack, both now and for eternity if they don’t hear about him.
Jesus once said,
Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.
– Matthew 5:14 MSG
When people see in you the qualities and marks of a follower of Jesus – joy, love, hope, and generosity – they’ll offer thanks and praise to God.
Paul echoed Jesus’ sentiment in this way,
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
– 2 Corinthians 9:11 NIV
This is a great day, not only to thank God for everything but also to inspire others to offer him thanks. And perhaps, even someone who doesn’t yet know him will come into a relationship with him today because of your life, generosity, and kindness.
To whom can you show kindness today?
